The Konso Intellectual Association, Yabello and Surrounding Areas Branch, conducted an awareness creation program for Konso Intellectuals living in the Teltele area.

The awareness creation program was held yesterday, on February 15, 2026., in Kulcha town in a vibrant and well-organized manner.

The Teltele Woreda Kulcha Town Administration Head, Engineer Barile Bayashe, attended the event and delivered a welcoming message.

Following this, the Vice Chairperson of the Yabello and Surrounding Areas Branch, Instructor Girma Mengesha, explained the content of the program. The opening address of the forum was delivered by Board Member of the Konso Intellectual Association, Instructor Koye Gelgelo. Instructor Koye stated that the objective of the forum was to strengthen the association’s activities in the Teltele area, clearly communicate the association’s goals, and enhance the awareness and understanding of scholars about the association.

The awareness and orientation document for the discussion was presented by the head of the Yabello and Surrounding Areas Branch Office, Instructor Gebre Garmame. He explained the vision, objectives, and mission of the Konso Intellectual Association and gave participants a summarized overview of the activities the association has carried out from its establishment up to the present.

Participants of the forum noted that due to lack of awareness, they had not previously understood the association well in terms of its structure and purpose. They expressed that such discussions are highly beneficial for properly understanding and energizing the association, and they shared various opinions and questions regarding the association.

At the conclusion of the event, the Secretary of the Yabello and Surrounding Areas Branch Office, Instructor Gebre Garmame, provided clarifications and responses to the questions and comments raised. On behalf of the association, he also expressed gratitude to the Teltele Woreda and Kulcha Town Administrations for their positive cooperation and brotherly hospitality in facilitating the forum.

In addition, the leadership of the Yabello and Surrounding Areas Branch of the Konso Intellectual Association—namely Instructor Gebre Garmame, Instructor Girma Mengesha, and Board Member Instructor Koye Gelgelo—donated, on behalf of the association, a goodwill contribution of 4,500.00 birr (four thousand five hundred birr) to Kulcha Secondary School for the purchase of books.

A total of 58 people participated in the forum, and 27 individuals officially joined the Konso Intellectual Association by filling out and submitting the membership application form.
