The 3rd Regular General Assembly of the Konso Intellectual Association, was held for two consecutive days in Karat City, Konso Zone, with the motto, "Inkolladey maanan samayta koda'?" from September 5-6/2025.
This 3rd Regular General Assembly of the Konso Intellectual Association, was held under the leadership of the association's General manager, Basire Balcha, and the 2017 E.C financial year Annual report of the association was presented by the association's board chairman, Dr. Amanuel Kusia.
Moreover, the association's audit report was presented by the association's internal auditor representative Mr. Gezhagne Guyola.
Then the members of the association gave many comments on the reports presented, and especially the fact that the association has been able to do many works within 2 years after its establishment has earned it a lot of appreciation from the members.
On the other hand, the fact that the number of members who have paid membership fees is very small should be improved further and the members of the association should realize that membership fees are a matter of morals and ethics for the association and urge them to fulfill their responsibilities.
The leaders of the general meeting of the association together with the chairman of the board responded and explained the comments made by the members.
After that, the association presented 2 research works to the conference.
They are the survey conducted by the association and presented by the leader of the Think thank group of the association, Ato Matwos Gelbo, that the people of Konso will solve the age-old problem of electricity. The second paper was presented by Mr Giorgi's Godale on the Construction Konso Cultural center.
At the end of today's 2nd day, in the morning session, the association presented 2 research works to the conference.
They are the survey researched by the association and presented by the leader of the idea generation group of the association, Ato Matwos Gelbo, to solve the age-old problem of electricity for the people of Konso.
Very encouraging and constructive comments were given from the house about both documents, and it was emphasized that the documents are documents that show how much the intellectuals' association is working for the people of Konso.
It is said that since the Association of Intellectuals is an association composed of scholars, they generate ideas, identify public problems, and by doing creative and problem solving researches, suggest solutions and work with the government and other stakeholders to bring them to the ground.
The conference continued and a document about the works done by the zone government was presented by the zone's assistant government official Mr. Gurasho Lemita.
Apart from that, an election was held to replace the missing 2 members of the association's board, Mr. Samuel Karafo, who was the chairman of the Kia Conso Zone branch, and Mrs. Koye Gelgelo, a young researcher who is a Lecturer at Borana University, were elected as board members by majority vote.
Subsequently, the Konso Intellectual Association signed a partnership agreement with the Goodwill Development Association, and finally an accreditation system was completed.
At the final stages of the meeting, recognition was given to the members of the association who contributed to the association by doing great works, namely Kia Hawasana area coordinator and Hawassa University lecturer Gezehan Gesese, and to the association's public relations team leader, journalist Amaro Arsaba, and Dr. Giorgis Godale, a researcher candidate of the Civil Service University who contributed greatly to the design of the Konso Cultural Center.
Finally, for our father Kora Garra, who wrote the book "Part of Creation" in the 70's and who has done countless historical works about Konso in the past, a recognition and book launch program was organized by the Konso Intellectual Association.
