During the discussion, the Association’s General Manager, Basire Balcha, presented the performance report and explained that one of the primary objectives of the Association since its establishment has been capacity building. In line with this objective, successful training programs were conducted at the zonal center and in various districts on four major thematic areas. He further stated that, alongside the training programs, effective activities were carried out in the areas of community awareness creation, membership expansion, and linking membership contribution payments with banking systems to improve transparency and efficiency.
Regarding branch activities, he highlighted that exemplary achievements had been registered by the Yabelo and Addis Ababa branches. He also indicated that greater attention would be given in the coming period to strengthening branches in Asia, Africa, Europe, and America. In addition, he noted that research and study activities are currently being undertaken in the fields of education, agriculture, groundwater resources, and moringa cultivation. He further explained that the process of securing land for the construction of the Association’s hall and cultural center is progressing well.
On his part, the Board Chairperson of the Association, Dr. Amanuel Kusiya, emphasized that the Association’s vision is to see a prosperous and developed Konso community. He stressed the importance of collective efforts in identifying and addressing the challenges facing the community. He further noted that transforming society requires not only knowledge and skills, but also strong commitment and dedication. He added that the Association would continue strengthening its partnerships with the zonal government, the Konso Development Association, and other relevant stakeholders in order to become a strong and influential institution.
Similarly, the Chairperson of the General Assembly, Gumachew Kussie, advised branches and teams to focus on priority areas in the coming period and to utilize their untapped potential effectively in addressing community challenges.
